Back To The FUTURA

Futura is a staple in the art communities. I’ve been keeping up with his works since forever ago though he’s been a bit quiet lately. When I heard he was planning an exhibition later this month in Los Angeles, I was stoked. In my opinion, his ‘Mo-Wax’ Nike Dunks are still one of the best shoes released. I was happy to see that he’s gone back to the same medium that’s given him a lot of his fame — painting. Here I have a pretty old Juxtapoz issue which graces its cover with one of Futura’s trademark characters — the Pointman. There’s a very good interview with Futura featured inside which really delves deep into his personal life, where his perspective is with the modern graffiti era, and WHY he’s finally painting again after being absent for so many years. This magazine is dated back in 2005 and three years later, he is ready to show the world all his new paintings at his “Strategic Synchronocity” exhibit. The location of the exhibit is kept a secret so I’ll post more information later.

John Mayer surprised me when he released the video for his single “Waiting On The World To Change” which features Futura in action. I loved the song from the first time I listened to it (…Continuum is in my honest opinion, a PERFECT album…) and a video giving recognition to some of the world’s greatest artists is just icing on the cake. The other artists in the video are Tats Cru and DAZE. Enjoy.

Vodpod videos no longer available.
