If you hadn’t known, I’ve been a huge Common fan for many years. I remember stumbling upon a ‘Can I Borrow A Dollar’ cassette tape when I was a kid but didn’t pay it much attention because it wasn’t as appealing as being able to go outside and play kick-the-can, but I remembered the cover art. It wasn’t until later down the road when I heard ‘I Used To Love H.E.R.’ and ‘Resurrection’. I became a bit more interested then, but at that point in my life, I was so huge into R&B and Boyz II Men, Shai, Intro, II D Extreme, Jodeci, and Troop were too cool to not give my full attention to. It wasn’t until ‘Introspect For Life’ came out that I really started to listen to Common (Sense) again. The Lauryn Hill-assisted single was my gateway into rap music and I paid attention. Long story short, I’ve listened to Common ever since. You can say whatever you want, but to ME, Common is the greatest of our time…well next to Al B. Sure.
The reason for this blog was my excitement over Common’s new album which is set to release on December 9th. Here we have the cover art and track-listing. Ten songs deep.
01. Universal Mind Control
02. Punch Drunk Love (Feat. Kanye West)
03. Make My Day (Feat. Cee-Lo Green)
04. Sex 4 Sugar
05. Announcement (Feat. Pharrell Williams)
09. What a World
Enjoy the videos:
Common ft. Lauryn Hill — ‘Introspect For Life’
Common ft. Lily Allen — ‘Drivin’ Me Wild’
Common on Def Poetry Jam — ‘A Letter To The Law’
Common on Def Poetry Jam — ‘God Is Freedom’
And of course,
Al B. Sure — Night & Day

There’s a first for everything…
TOKYO: A 43-year-old Japanese woman whose sudden divorce in a virtual game world made her so angry that she killed her online husband’s digital persona has been arrested on suspicion of hacking, police said Thursday.
The woman, who is jailed on suspicion of illegally accessing a computer and manipulating electronic data, used his identification and password to log onto popular interactive game “Maple Story” to carry out the virtual murder in mid-May, a police official in northern Sapporo said on condition of anonymity, citing department policy.
“I was suddenly divorced, without a word of warning. That made me so angry,” the official quoted her as telling investigators and admitting the allegations.
The woman had not plotted any revenge in the real world, the official said.
She has not yet been formally charged, but if convicted could face a prison term of up to five years or a fine up to $5,000.
Players in “Maple Story” raise and manipulate digital images called “avatars” that represent themselves, while engaging in relationships, social activities and fighting against monsters and other obstacles.
The woman used login information she got from the 33-year-old office worker when their characters were happily married, and killed the character. The man complained to police when he discovered that his beloved online avatar was dead.
This story was so bizarre, I just HAD to post it here for all to read. If you think I made it up, you can see it HERE.

Sunday started with us attending the Rosewood Royale BBQ and meeting up with some good friends. Congratulations to the shop on their ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY. The store continues to stay ahead of the crowd by carrying some of the most established brands in the industry — Undefeated, STPL, TheHUNDREDS, etc. If you’re ever around town, pay them a visit and get a haircut while you’re at it. I’ve written a piece on RosewoodRoyale before and how wonderfully they’ve orchestrated their ideas with two different passions mixed into one unique experience — barbershop / streetwear boutique.
Alex and Anne. FINALLY!
We’re not really friends. She didn’t tell me I threw that SKETCHPAD sign backwards. UGH!
DJ Ralphy Ralph manning the boards and keeping the music alive for the day.
Francis the Barber became Francis the Griller for the day. One of the biggest raffle prizes given away that day was a free haircut by Francis for a FULL YEAR. I wonder who came away with that.
“First the FATBOYS break up…now everyday I wake up………” And yes, he’s my evil twin.
Lovers & Friends.
We didn’t stay at the BBQ too long because we had an appointment at Cal State Long Beach. Kuizzy’s roomate is a choreographer and he invited us to the Maxt OUT Dance Competition at the Pyramid. There were hundreds and thousands of dancers and crews battling out and some of them were amazing. The synchronocity and athletism required for some of the routines were mind-boggling to me because, as you’ve seen in the past clips, my dancing is a tad bit off. Kaba Modern from the ‘America’s Best Dance Crew’ on MTV were on hand and gave a stellar performance which had a ‘Wizard Of Oz’ theme. GRV seemed to have been the crowd favorite and the strongest contenders there. I’ll post video clips of a few performances later.
Afterwards, we returned home and I got to the moment I’ve actually anticipated the most. Painting. This is not a finished piece but it got messy very quick and I guess the 3-hours-a-day sleeping pattern got to me and I ended the night watching ‘Definitely, Maybe’ with Angela, which just so happened to be my favorite ‘chick-flick‘. Yes, I admit it.
And we’ll end this blog with BaiLee. She’s the newest addition to Kuizzy’s San Diego apartment.

Tradition held an art-show Saturday night which was Horror-themed and consisted of many different paintings from various artists. I loved the Pardee pieces he contributed to the show. Anyways, this was my first time anywhere near Westlake Village and it seemed as if I was in another part of the world because as we entered the shop, we were quickly greeted and treated like one of the regulars. Hospitality is a rare thing these days, unfortunately. Tradition seems to have a nice tight-knit community within themselves filled with good people and good support. It was well worth the trip out there and it won’t be our last, that’s for sure.
We had dinner at an Italian spot next to Tradition.
So Friday afternoon, Kui, Adam, and Christine went out for a small camping trip out at the Nike Sportswear Store in LA awaiting the release of those KAWS Nike AMs on Saturday. Unfortunately, they didn’t get the sizes they’d like because those were gone so fast. Kui ended up with some 12.5s and 8.5s of both colorways and now has nothing to do with them. If anyone is interested, he’s letting those go for $500 a pair. If you check on EBay, you’ll realize this is a really good discount. You can contact me or Kuizzy Effin’ and we’ll be glad to send those your way.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I’ve done nothing but drink coffee and WORK. WORK. WORK. I’m a bit behind schedule so this whole week was devoted to getting back on track MEANING three-hour sleep per day and countless hours on either Illustrator or pen-and-paper. We have our Fall/Winter collection in production now but there were a billion changes I had to make before we green-lighted the project, hence the reason why there’s the slowdown.
Last week, I paid Kui a visit at his place in Lakeside and we all headed out to some random party his sister invited us to. The end result was pretty not good but we had one helluva business meeting and I guess I can’t say all was a waste.
We headed back down to LA and dropped in on an art exhibit @ LaBasse out in Culver City. This was a collaborative project hosted by a number of different artists. The place was so packed, I didn’t get to acquaint myself with any of the artists. The fact that we didn’t get to the event until thirty-minutes before closing didn’t help much either but we did get to see some amazing paintings, sketches, and toys.
Believe it or not, this was the most exciting thing I saw in San Diego. REALLY.
And this has been my whole week so far…
I have been so busy that I’ve just realized my whole diet this week consisted of a million packets of instant-coffee mixes and boiled eggs.
I took this picture earlier when I was taking a break from the computer. It’s actually 5:46AM right now. UGH!
I guess a little sneak-peek wouldn’t hurt anyone, right?
So there goes. Nothing too exciting this time around, but watch out for the tee-shirts dropping really soon. The work is very hard and strenuous but once the shirts are released, it’ll all be very well worth the extra time and effort. We’ve revamped the brand and the quality and attention-to-detail that goes into each piece is just insane. Until then, I’m going back to the lab again. This blog post was just my little break-time distraction from going back for more coffee.

Some clips of us in the parking lot at Plush in Anaheim being the cool people you’ve come to know and love. Now, all I have to do is get Kuizzy and Christine to do something terribly and regrettably stupid on film so the world can see that they’re just as cool as the rest of us. I’ve been trying to get Kui on his bad behavior but his sixth sense acts up whenever the camera is on record and he just becomes this smart and awesome guy until the camera is turned off.
Also, I’m sure most of you reading this would love to be on our blog and join the family AND you’re all more than welcomed to as long as you don’t make us look bad by dancing all good and stuff.

Sunday was a pretty busy day and I felt like I was everywhere at the same time. The afternoon started off with us heading back out to Culver City to meet up with a couple of artists we met the night before at the Scion “Tokyo Nonsense” show. We met up with Ichiro Endo and Ai Madonna as she was doing a live-painting at the Royal T cafe/art space/shop. There were many beautiful pieces held at the store and it quickly became the best cafe experience I’ve ever had in my entire short-lived life. The painting Miss Ai Madonna created conveyed a unifying spirit and a message of love and positivity through the anime-ish theme, which has simply become a trademark of hers in her many public painting sessions.
Afterwards, we headed back out to Downtown Long Beach for an art festival they held on the First Street block. There were live-paintings, graffiti showcases, dance performances, concerts, and even spoken-word poetry performances and it was all free to enjoy for people of all ages. The whole event was amazing because there were so many different facets of art being displayed and everyone was able to learn a few things from silkscreening to being educated on different social interests to being able to pop-n’-lock to some good funky music.
As if that wasn’t enough to fill our full day, we headed out to a bar/lounge out in Anaheim called Plush. I was already in chill mode before we even got there so I knew I was going to have a great time. There were some issues people had with the DJ playing music no one wanted to dance to, but to quite honest, I didn’t really listen to the music and just danced to the rhythm of my own beat. Sure, some of the songs were mixed pretty badly but that didn’t stop me. My whole day and night went completely perfect…until I lost terribly in Mario Party when we returned home.
Long Beach at its finest…
Eating at Kuizzy’s family’s house is always an adventure because you never really know how spicy the food is, but it’s always guaranteed to be good.
And now…PARTY TIIIIMMMME!!!!
Adam made love with a VERY VERY VERY skinny girl with VERY VERY VERY long fingers.
Devon has been supporting us since forever ago and his dream has been to be on one of our food blogs. Yes, he said it himself. Keep dreamin’…
Adam and that girl AGAIN!
What did YOU do on YOUR Sunday?…
