24HOURS

Paper Magazine’s 24HR Pop-Up Department Store opened Friday night at 6PM and stayed open until Saturday @ 6PM. There were a lot of high-end boutiques present as vendors in the small flea-marketish store including Undefeated, Supreme, Fruition, Estevan Oriol, Strange Co., RVCA, and so many more. There were also 24 bands playing for 24 hours so you know the party was forever going on. We arrived to the store at around 3AM so it wasn’t as crazy crowded AND parking wasn’t as bad as I’m sure it was earlier Friday evening. As we were leaving, we came across the booth close to the exit, L.A. Record, and grabbed a lot of stickers from the booth. Definitely check out Ash Kahn and his Don’t STOP Studio. I threw some of his VERY eye-catching ‘brocolli’ stickers on the poles coming out of the store and still have a couple to keep.

The Levi’s couch looked really dope but the copper-button pillows look a lot like nipples, eh?

We got back home at around 6AM and decided not to sleep…soooooo…we played seven straight games of Monopoly. We were up until around 11AM when Adam and I finally took a quick nap which really made the whole day pretty crappy. We took a trip out to Costco for a late lunch and after a little bit of rest, we were at it again. This time, Alpha Cult here in Long Beach. The toy-store hosted the “This Is Gonna Hurt” art exhibit of Brandon Sopinsky. As we got there, there were a lot of commotion going on that we weren’t aware of earlier so parking was very hectic. ArtWalk LB was going on so they shut down Linden between 1st & Broadway for the art-festival event. There was also a lot going on at the opening of one of the art-districts newest stores, Long Beach Fixed Gears, which attracted a huge horde of bicyclists onto the streets. As we were leaving, we found another great art exhibit going on which was hosted by A Village Community. The theme of the gallery was ‘TwentyFour’ — a collection of photos taken by Long Beach’s finest photographers of the city within each hour spanning a twenty-four hour period. A great little show to end such a busy and tiring day.
