Louis Vuitton’s Stephen Sprouse Collection

Louis Vuitton is releasing their Stephen Sprouse collection this week with a festive event which will see the SoHo boutique wrapped in vinyl and neon spray-painted graffiti with light installments in Sprouse’s Rose motif. The collection will be released this coming Thursday in SoHo while the worldwide launch will be on February 2nd. The company is also releasing two collectible items including the skateboard with the monogram trunk going for $8,250 each, and 70 tee-shirts going for $250 each.
Yes, it’s very pricey, but if it makes you sleep better at night,

Proceeds will benefit Free Arts NYC, which provides underserved children throughout New York City with special arts programs. Vuitton is also making an undisclosed donation to the Sprouse Estate, as well as the Stephen Sprouse Memorial Scholarship Fund at the National Academy for Design here.

As always, with these kinds of releases, they will be gone in an instant. Personally, I love the direction Louis Vuitton is going with this — showing how powerful and elegant street art can be if celebrated, instead of punished. Unfortunately, Sprouse wouldn’t live to see this honorary celebration in his name, as he passed away back in 2004.
