Adidas Originals Spring/Summer 2009

Adidas Originals have really stepped it up a notch with their new collection of lifestyle branding. There’s a lot to be said about a brand whose capable of releasing products that have been around for ages, yet make it seem exciting and new each time. Good marketing? Maybe. Great designs? Absolutely. The fashion department working at Adidas now owe a lot of their success to the original designers who created timeless pieces which have the power to transcend generations upon generations. Many well-established brands have, at one point, been able to create something that’s able to stand the test of time, and that’s where the true success of a fashion company begins. We all know what a Members Only jacket is. The Nike Air technology. The little red Levi’s tab in the back-pocket of your favorite jeans. The Lacoste alligator logo sewn on your favorite polo shirts. These are staple designs that have built a strong root to the granduer of each of the respected companies.
With Adidas, it’s always been the ‘three-striped logo’ laid out on their apparels. They’ve resurrected the name and toned their fashion muscles to become a serious contender in showcases throughout the world. What I love about this new release is that it’s simply elegant everyday wear, with a chic feel so that those who love to dress up can do so by dressing down. Rather than reinventing the wheel, they just smoothed it out.
