Let The Beat Build…

Sunday was a pretty busy day and I felt like I was everywhere at the same time. The afternoon started off with us heading back out to Culver City to meet up with a couple of artists we met the night before at the Scion “Tokyo Nonsense” show. We met up with Ichiro Endo and Ai Madonna as she was doing a live-painting at the Royal T cafe/art space/shop. There were many beautiful pieces held at the store and it quickly became the best cafe experience I’ve ever had in my entire short-lived life. The painting Miss Ai Madonna created conveyed a unifying spirit and a message of love and positivity through the anime-ish theme, which has simply become a trademark of hers in her many public painting sessions.
Afterwards, we headed back out to Downtown Long Beach for an art festival they held on the First Street block. There were live-paintings, graffiti showcases, dance performances, concerts, and even spoken-word poetry performances and it was all free to enjoy for people of all ages. The whole event was amazing because there were so many different facets of art being displayed and everyone was able to learn a few things from silkscreening to being educated on different social interests to being able to pop-n’-lock to some good funky music.
As if that wasn’t enough to fill our full day, we headed out to a bar/lounge out in Anaheim called Plush. I was already in chill mode before we even got there so I knew I was going to have a great time. There were some issues people had with the DJ playing music no one wanted to dance to, but to quite honest, I didn’t really listen to the music and just danced to the rhythm of my own beat. Sure, some of the songs were mixed pretty badly but that didn’t stop me. My whole day and night went completely perfect…until I lost terribly in Mario Party when we returned home.
